POKOTABI / Fuji
ふじ
Located on the basement floor of an Ichigaya hotel, Japanese restaurant Fuji serves coarse-ground Shinshu Sarashina soba combos, tempura rice bowls, katsudon, and full course trays.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked into basement level 1 of Hotel Grand Hill, Fuji offers unpretentious Japanese cuisine—ranging from set meals and rice bowls to soba—in a relaxed setting. With attentive table service in a spacious dining room, guests can enjoy satisfying, reasonably priced meals for both lunch and dinner.
When in the mood for noodles, the Soba Set made with coarse-ground fresh Shinshu Sarashina soba is a reliable choice. The noodles deliver pleasant chew and a smooth finish, and come paired with either a mini seafood bowl or mini tempura bowl, served with your choice of hot or cold dipping broth. For a seafood-focused centerpiece, the Seafood Donburi combines bluefin tuna with daily catches selected by the head chef, while the Tenju features prawns, Japanese whiting, and seasonal vegetables lightly perfumed with fragrant sesame oil and drizzled with house sauce.
Hearty rice bowls are equally well represented. Options include the domestic pork loin katsudon, topped with freshly fried breaded cutlet gently bound in soft, dashi-rich egg, as well as the oyakodon prepared with premium Koshu Kenmikodori chicken from Yamanashi Prefecture. In the evening, an appetizer set featuring Matsushima Base nori-flavored fried chicken—created in collaboration with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force—pairs neatly with beer or wine. Handcrafted purple sweet potato ice cream, Uji matcha ice cream, and coffee provide a quiet, pleasant finish to the meal.
